The trouble with chickens...... that sometimes those cute little hens turn out not to be hens after all. Such is the case with Aviana's feathered friend. We should have known when it started out being dubbed "the big mean one" or "the hoowl". The name "Cinderella" never really stuck and now we know why.

It slowly has become more clear over the last week as it's feathers have become more spectacular in color, it's crown has deepened to a darker red, it's tail feathers and neck feathers have become more pronounced and it's behavior has become increasingly aggressive. Then since those signs weren't enough to convince us it finally became blatantly obvious when it started to crow, and crow, and crow some more.

We're not sure what will happen yet, we're waiting for a reply back from the people we purchased the little rooster from (they guaranteed the sex). But Aviana is taking the whole thing very well. There have been a few tears and I'm sure there will be a few more when we say good-bye, but her and her daddy have plans to find a new Easter Egger to take it's place. And I'm sure it will be just as loved, although not nearly as entertaining and full of spunk as "the hoowl" has been.
